Bomb suspect ‘held loitering near ferry in a Chelsea shirt’

- EXCLUSIVE by DUNCAN GARDAM and CHRIS HUGHES

THE main Parson’s Green Tube bomb suspect was seized when a police officer saw him in a Chelsea shirt acting suspiciously near a Channel ferry.

He recognised Ahmed Hassan, 18, from a CCTV image circulated to officials.

The Iraqi refugee fled by bus after leaving the bomb two weeks ago, then trav- elled by tube and train, sources said. He bought the football top in Ashford then waited overnight in Dover for Yahyah Farroukh, 21, who did not turn up. Farroukh was arrested and released without charge. A source said: “We owe a lot to this eagle-eyed cop. Officers like him ensure we are all kept safe.” Hassan is charged with attempted murder and malicious use of explosives. Scotland Yard declined to comment.
