GRAYSON TELLS CATS: NO MORE ROT-TEN RESULTS

- BY SIMON BIRD

SIMON GRAYSON has ordered Sunderland to “stop the rot” and “stick two fingers up” to their critics.

Grayson is facing dark times at the Stadium of Light with Sunderland second bottom – as he returns to Preston, the club he quit in the summer. The Black Cats boss (below) says harsh but constructive words were had after the heavy defeat at Ipswich in midweek, where they conceded five goals.

He said; “I want performances where we can stick two fingers up to people. Are we good enough? We certainly are. Am I good enough? I certainly am.

“We all care about the situation and we can stop the rot. We have had constructive conversations this week. We have to learn and eradicate errors.”

Grayson quit the stability of Deepdale for the turmoil of sorting out relegated Sunderland and added: “It was not an easy decision when I left Preston because I had a fantastic time.

“I’m not concerned about the reception I’ll get. I left a good squad. It is no accident they are fifth.”
