Four hurt as van drives at pedestrians
FOUR people were injured after a man drove a hire van at pedestrians during possible multiple “acts of terrorism”, police said.
A policeman was stabbed repeatedly in the first attack in Edmonton, Canada
He was controlling traffic when he was hit by a car driven “at high speed”. It was displaying an Islamic State flag, police said.
The suspect got out of the vehicle and slashed at the officer. His injuries are not life-threatening.
Two hours later, a U-Haul hire truck was driven at pedestrians in the city centre, injuring four.
The vehicle was stopped later at a checkpoint. The suspect, 30, was held after he sped off and crashed.
Police chief Rod Knecht said: “We believe the individual acted alone,”
