I was interested in the letter from the guy who’s in love with his best female friend and doesn’t know what to do (Dear Coleen, Sept 27).

I was in the same situation a few years ago after realising I was in love with the girl who became my best mate at uni. One night we got a bit drunk and I just told her how I felt. It turned out she felt the same, but never wanted to say anything because she wasn’t sure how I’d react.

I say, bite the bullet and tell her your feelings. Even if it doesn’t work out, I think really good friends will find a way of staying that way. Joe, via email
