More than 200 people were killed when troops fired on student demonstrators in Mexico City 10 days before the opening of the Olympic Games. They were protesting against the military.

15 YEARS AGO (2002)

James Martin, 55, was shot and killed in Washington DC, the first in a series of sniper attacks around the US capital. Altogether 17 were killed by John Allen Muhammad, 41, and Lee Boyd Malvo, 17.
