Cop loses 11 race claims against Met Police
A DETECTIVE who sued the Met Police 11 times over alleged racial discrimination and victimisation has lost every single case.
DC Derrick Quarm began making claims in 2013.
After his first failed in 2015, DC Quarm took his case to the Independent Police Complaints Commission, where he added further historical claims.
He also said some of the officers who gave evidence at an earlier tribunal had lied and were guilty of criminal conduct.
In his latest complaint, he insisted he had been picked on because of accusations he had made earlier. But an employment panel ruled the Met’s failure to take DC Quarm’s complaints further “has not subjected the claimant to any detriment”.
At the Central London Employment Tribunal, judge James Tayler said: “The claimant has brought a series of complaints against the respondent. This is the eleventh… In the circumstances, we do not consider that the claimant has established he was subject to detriment and, accordingly, his claim fails.”
DC Quarm, who is still a serving officer for the Met, was ordered to pay costs.
