Perez points to Toon’s revival
AYOZE PEREZ claims Newcastle proved they can handle the Premier League’s big clubs after their battling draw against Liverpool.
Rafa Benitez’s Toon were under siege for much of the game at St James’ Park but levelled after going a goal down – and held out.
“It was a great point against a top side,” said Perez. “It was a different kind of test, but we showed we could handle it.
“We knew we were probably not going to be able to be as good as we’d like to be on the ball.
“We had to adapt to that and change our style of football to try to overcome Liverpool’s strengths.”
