Spain fans jeer Pique
A SPAIN training session was abandoned after 23 minutes when fans turned on Gerard Pique last night.
The Barcelona defender offered to quit the national team following unrest over a Catalonia independence referendum on Sunday.
He bore the backlash at Spain’s training base near Madrid during preparations for Saturday’s World Cup qualifier with Albania.
Some chanted: “Pique, a***hole, Spain is your country . . Pique, a***hole, leave the national team.” Others shouted, “Son of a bitch”, while one banner called him an “a***hole”.
Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu last night warned the club could quit La Liga if Catalonia becomes independent.
