Strachan is missing big Bhoys

- BY KEITH JACKSON

GORDON STRACHAN goes into Scotland’s crunch clash against Slovakia without injured duo Craig Brown and Stuart Armstrong.

The influential Celtic pair are out of Thursday’s Hampden Park showdown, a game the Scots must win to keep alive their dreams of a World Cup play-off spot for Russia 2018.

And boss Strachan warned the Tartan Army the road to Moscow is about to get bumpy because of the quality of opposition.

He said: “I have always thought it would be very difficult to beat them. I saw them at the European Championship last summer and they have four or five top, top players, backed by a team of good players.

“They have a small squad. It’s like a club side. And they get on with it. You can nearly pick their side, most of the time, one or two areas aside.

“But they made life difficult for England and they’ll make it hard for us.

“I think it will be a long night. An interesting night. It might even be a nervous night. But, hopefully, at the end of the night, we all go home happy.”
