Villa want to keep Sam as their No.1

ASTON VILLA boss Steve Bruce hopes to make Sam Johnstone’s loan move permanent in the January window.

The Manchester United keeper (above), 24, is at Villa Park for the season, but Bruce wants him to stay for longer.

He said: “The ideal move for us would be to buy him in January. Can we secure him as our No.1? I’ve never really asked Sam. Also, have we got the money?

“But looking at De Gea and Romero at United, it’s a difficult path for him.”
