COMEDY
BACK C4, 10pm
After the pub went up in flames in the last episode of this sitcom, it’s rather unfortunate that no one remembered to renew the fire insurance policy.
Of course, everyone blames Stephen (David Mitchell), who is further irritated when Andrew (Robert Webb) is hailed a hero for buying Cass’s shares so he can start renovations.
“You’re not family, you’re just some bloke,” insists Stephen, while Andrew remains smug and victorious.
Furious and fuelled on his so-called morning wine, Stephen storms off to take Maureen for a walk, but when the dog runs away it leads Stephen to a rather grim discovery.
Fortunately (or unfortunately), Andrew is passing by on his run and is happy to help.
This has a great cast, and a premise nothing like that of Peep Show, but the banter between the duo is just the same so comparisons are inevitable.
Stephen is neurotic, anxious and weak, while Andrew is carefree and hugely annoying. Ring any bells?
And it’s these confrontational scenes, with just Mitchell and Webb, that are the best of all.
