Cancer fight all-clear then £1m lotto win

- BY PAUL BYRNE

A MUM has scooped a £1million on the lottery just months after getting the all-clear from cancer.

Now Helen Garnett, 38, promises to live life to the full, saying: “I feel as if I have won twice.”

But the shop assistant, who was diagnosed with cervical cancer last year, said: “There is no way I am giving up work — I love it.”

Helen, from Ulverston, Cumbria, checked the ticket after a night out with her welder hubby Derek.

She added: “I think we are both still in shock. It is just life-changing.”

The couple, who have a daughter Carly, 14, do intend to buy a new home.

Derek, 52, said: “We plan to live our dream.”

They won last Friday’s Millionaire Maker.
