Breathe is about Robin Cavendish, who contracted polio at the age of 28 and was only given a short time to live, but went on to become a pioneering disability advocate.

Andrew Garfield, 34, plays Robin and Claire is his wife Diane.

Claire said: “This job came along at a time when I thought I was going to have a rest, but I didn’t.”

Claire, who is married to actor Stephen Campbell Moore, 39, found the role of Diana Cavendish impossible to turn down.

She said: “I’ve never read a script or anything that affected me quite like that. By the end I couldn’t see because I was crying so much.

“I thought I’d just be mad not to do it.”
