DAVID BECKHAM rocked England with news that he was a big doubt for the historic World Cup encounter with Germany – the 2002 World Cup qualifier was to be the final fixture at the old Wembley.

The star was absent from training with a knee injury and England boss Kevin Keegan had put Ray Parlour on standby. But Becks was fit enough in the end – although Germany won 1-0 with a Dietmar Hamann goal.
