Prem clubs at war over TV £billions
THE Premier League is at war after failing to agree on Richard Scudamore’s plans to give more money to the biggest clubs. International broadcasting income has been split equally since 1992 and is worth £39million a share. But the Big Six – Manchester United, Liverpool,
Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Spurs – argue they deserve a larger slice because of their greater popularity abroad.
Premier League chief Scudamore wants to make clubs’ finishing position the yardstick for how much they receive – and needs the backing of 14 clubs to push it through.
But opposition to the proposals means a vote was not even taken in London yesterday.
