Teacher who had sex with her pupil, 15, is jailed

BREECH Alice McBrearty A WOMAN teacher who had a “full-blown sexual relationship” with a 15-year-old schoolboy has been jailed for 16 months.

Alice McBrearty, 23, admitted conducting a four-month fling this year with one of her pupils at an East London school.

She kissed the youngster in a classroom, took him to a hotel for sex, and performed sex acts on him in a garage, her car and at her home in nearby Wanstead Park.

McBrearty, who pleaded guilty to sexual activity with a child while in a position of trust, sobbed in the dock at Snaresbrook crown court.

Judge Sheelagh Canavan said she had committed the “grossest breach of trust” and added: “You engaged in a full-blown sexual relationship with a child.

“He was consenting — what 15-year-old would turn down such an attractive offer? I accept you truly believed this was a great romance and that age didn’t matter. But it did.” Prosecutor Lisa Matthews said that the boy “felt special” and “appeared to be besotted with her”.

Emma Sharron, defending, said: McBreaty “is not sexually attracted to children”, adding: “She will be branded a paedophile for the rest of her life. She has been disgraced.”
