Alli profits from a ban

SOMETIMES you become a better player when you sit out games through injury or suspension and the team struggles in your absence.

Dele Alli (below) probably found England’s 1-0 win over Slovenia a tough watch – like the rest of us – but nobody seized the chance to take his place on a regular basis.

A one-match ban for Alli’s rude gesture was probably about right, and hopefully he’s learned his lesson.

If you don’t want to help your country qualify for the World Cup finals, don’t make inflammatory gestures sure to be picked up on the TV.
