Supersavers in their 20s home & dry
A COUPLE in their 20s on “bog standard” wages have just bought their first home – a £263,000 detached – without any help.
Darren Noble, 24, and Shanine Land, 22, did it by saving up and shunning foreign holidays, credit cards and nights out.
The childhood sweethearts will be mortgage free in their early 40s.
Darren, a plumber from Tiverton, Devon, who started on the minimum wage, said: “Our generation don’t help themselves when it comes to getting on the property ladder.
“I’ve friends who like their cars but if you want a house you’ve got to think of the bigger picture.”
Shanine, who works in retail, said: “It shows you can save and get a mortgage in a bog standard job.”
