‘Prophet’ who snatched 20,000 kids in 30-year war

-

THOUSANDS of troops hunted for Lord’s Resistance Army leader Joseph Kony in a mission costing some £760million.

But it was finally called off in April this year when his fighting force was no longer considered a threat. Kony formed the LRA in 1987, waging war against Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni, still in power.

Kony proclaimed himself a prophet and spiritual medium on a mission to “purify” Uganda. Between 1986 and 2009 two million Ugandans were displaced by the fighting and Kony’s troops snatched 20,000 children who allegedly became soldiers or sex slaves.

An international arrest warrant was issued for him in CHILD SOLDIER LRA fighter 2005, and Barack Obama sent 150 special ops troops to the Central African region in 2011 to capture or kill the warlord. Kony is now believed to be hiding in the Sudanese state of South Darfur.
