Q My daughter has all the symptoms of Lyme disease. I don’t know what to do as my doctor seems to know nothing about it. Can you help me? A I do sympathise with you and your daughter but please remember Lyme disease can mimic many other conditions making it difficult to diagnose.

There aren’t many experts in Lyme disease in the UK so it’s difficult to find someone who can give specialist advice. Many patients are forced to seek help in Germany and the US, difficult though that may be. However, having had to help several relatives in the past, I’d try Kirsty Le Doare at Imperial College, London who might be able to point you in the direction of a doctor in your area.
