SHE WANTS TO SEE IF SHE LIKES GIRLS

-

Dear Coleen

I broke up with my girlfriend recently after four years because she’s bisexual. Well, not that exactly, but because she hooked up with a lesbian friend of ours one night and they did it behind my back.

It’s awkward as we currently live together at her mum’s place. She still insists she loves me and says she doesn’t see it as the end of our relationship, but she wants to experiment and find out if she wants me or to date girls.

I feel frustrated when she says she loves me, but that I’m her “best friend”. Where does this leave me?

Coleen says I think she’s being really unfair and pretty arrogant. You don’t want to be her best friend – you’ve been her lover for the past four years. She wants to have her cake and eat it too – having the security of your relationship while experimenting with other women.

But, the fact is, bisexual or not, if you’re in a relationship, you need to be faithful within it.

I’m afraid cheating is cheating, just because she didn’t hook up with a guy doesn’t make it OK.

So she needs to make her choice and stick to it or be honest that she’s not interested in an exclusive relationship any more.

And, if it’s the latter, then it’s down to you to decide whether you’re happy to be in that kind of arrangement.

Do you want to be a friend with benefits after four years together? It’s not like you’ve just met.

Don’t be railroaded into something that’s not for you or you could end up getting really hurt.
