That’s a no-no, Bruno
Brendan hammers Tonioli for ‘race to the bedroom’ remark
STRICTLY star Brendan Cole has hit out at Bruno Tonioli for a saucy remark on the show.
Brendan slated the outspoken member of the judging panel for saying soap actor Davood Ghadami, 35, and 27-year-old Nadiya Bychkova’s dance was like a “race to the bedroom”. Brendan, 41, said: “I didn’t approve of Bruno’s comment... If it was said about two single people... then maybe it would have been OK – but Davood and Nadiya have partners and children.
“Strictly’s also a family show, imagine your kid asking you what ‘race to the bedroom’ means.” His remarks in his magazine column came a day after he defended 42-year-old TV presenter Charlotte Hawkins, whom he is paired with on the show.
Professional dancer Brendan, who felt their routine on Strictly at the weekend was unfairly criticised by the head judge Shirley Ballas, said: “What Charlotte did on Saturday was a phenomenal dance compared to what we’d done before and given the fact she’s not one of the people from X Factor.”
This year’s series has two former X Factor contestants, Aston Merrygold and Alexandra Burke.
