Selfie-restraint
Mary Berry may enjoy fame but she hates social media and selfies.
She said: “Fame doesn’t make me uncomfortable. Everybody is nice and they always come up with a big smile.
“Maybe I am in a supermarket and someone will say, ‘I made your lemon drizzle cake the other day and it was lovely’. People are so nice.
“It’s got everyone cooking and baking and I am proud of that.
“But the one thing I don’t like is selfies. Because I don’t Twitter – or whatever you do – and I am not keen on selfies. Then they go and show their friend and say, ‘Look who I met’. But they didn’t talk to me.
“But they have got me in the flesh and so I nearly always say, ‘I am really thrilled to meet you, shall we shake hands’ and then they give me a little story.”
