Our Nazi terror in lone fight to bring son’s killer to justice
THE parents of a lawyer shot dead “for being English” have told of the terrifying abuse they suffered from neo-Nazis in their lone battle for justice.
Phillip and Rita Holland said the Foreign Office refused to take up the fight after son Luke, 31, was gunned down in Berlin in 2015 by neo-Nazi Rolf Zilienski, 63.
When he was accused of manslaughter, which carries only a five-year jail term, the family hired a lawyer and successfully fought to get the charge increased to murder. Mr Holland, 63, from Stockport, Gtr Manchester, told his son’s inquest: “At court in Berlin we were constantly threatened by Nazis, who would shout and scream in our faces.” The Stockport hearing was told Zilienski got 11 years and seven months after the parents’ “dogged determination”. Verdict: Unlawful killing.
