And ex-captain Flintoff has agonised over telling his young sons why the middle-order hero has been suspended by Lord’s. He said: “I hope it’s not the end of him. We have got to give him a chance to redeem himself. He’ll be desperate for that. “I’m a big Stokes fan and the hardest part for me has been explaining it to my kids as they idolise him. “Surely, it’s a case of innocent until proven guilty, but the line is pretty simple – there are laws of the land.”
