Swiss side roll over
EUROPEAN champions Portugal dumped Switzerland in the World Cup play-offs after the crucial decider in Lisbon last night.
The Swiss had a 100 per cent record going into the game but a 2-0 win for Cristiano Ronaldo’s side saw them top the group on goal difference.
An own goal from former Arsenal defender Johan Djourou and a strike from Andre Silva proved enough.
Holland needed a sevengoal miracle to reach the play-offs, but came up short against Sweden.
Arjen Robben scored twice for the Dutch but it was not enough in Group A with France – 2-1 winners over Belarus – topping the group with Sweden second.
Belgium had already qualified in Group H and finished in style with a 4-0 win over Cyprus.
