Chelsea won’t play kid Musonda ..and are fining him for complaining about it

- BY DARREN LEWIS

CHELSEA are set to fine rising star Charly Musonda for an Instagram post which appeared to hit out at his lack of chances under manager Antonio Conte.

The 20-year-old scored on his full debut in the Carabao Cup win over Nottingham Forest last month. But talks over a new deal have broken down with Musonda unhappy at having made just three appearances this season.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, he wrote: “You sacrifice, you work hard, harder, you give more than what’s expected, and often more than you can, because you love what you do and clearly more than you should.

“And what do you get back? Literally nothing… Done.

“However, I will continue with the same dedication and commitment to this great game.”

Despite denials that the post was aimed at Conte, it is seen as a reflection of Musonda’s frustration and has breached club rules.

Musonda’s brother Lamisha, now at Belgian club Mechelen, appeared to back up his sibling’s attack on the Blues.

The 25-year-old, who himself spent two years with the club, posted: “It’s starting to look like they wouldn’t know what they have if they had Ronaldo or Messi coming out of the academy. smh (Shake my head).”

Musonda has been hoping this would be his breakthrough season after being on loan at Real Betis for half of last term, as well as all of the 2015-16 campaign.

Instead he has reopened the debate surrounding the lack of first-team opportunities for talented young players coming out of the champions’ academy.

Nathaniel Chalobah refused to sign a new deal, joining Watford, Nathan Ake left for Bournemouth, while Ruben Loftus-Cheek pushed for a loan move to Crystal Palace.
