1 in 8 got top A-level score

ONE in eight A-level students got three top grades this year, Department for Education figures show.

Some 13% scored three As or A*s, up from 12.9% last year. Girls got the best average score, at C+ compared with C for boys.

But a bigger proportion of lads got three top marks.
