Johnson heads to Russia for safety talks over World Cup
BORIS Johnson will travel to Russia to discuss the safety of British football fans at next year’s World Cup.
The Foreign Secretary will also touch on topics such as North Korea, Syria and Iran with his counterpart Sergey Lavrov in Moscow.
Mr Johnson, who met Mr Lavrov at the UN General Assembly last month, said the UK still has “deep differences” over Russian policy. But said of his visit later this year: “There are global security issues we need to discuss. “We will continue to challenge Russia’s approach where we disagree, whether that is actions in Syria or its aggression towards Ukraine. “Our relationship is not straightforward. That is all the more reason to be talking — to manage our differences for the security of our nations and the international community.”
