Clement wants his Swans to start showing some fight

- BY ALEX BYWATER

PAUL CLEMENT has issued Swansea with a Liberty Stadium battle cry.

The Welsh side have lost all three of their home games so far this season and host Huddersfield this afternoon.

And their boss has demanded the Swans reverse their poor form in south Wales.

“We have been missing an attitude, where we are fighting for our lives in every game,” said Clement (right).

“We need to create that mentality again, and play more like we did in the second half against Watford, but from the very first whistle. We need to get the supporters behind us, and ride that wave of emotion, to put in a good performance over the full 90 minutes. We want to take the initiative.

“We don’t want to sit off and let Huddersfield dictate the game. That battle will be there early on and we have to be ready. We have to show at home that we’re not a shrinking violet.”

Swansea’s star loan signing Renato Sanches is set to miss the game with a thigh strain, picked up on international duty with Portugal. Striker Wilfried Bony (above) is also a doubt with a nerve problem in his leg. Huddersfield have had a strong start to their debut season in the Premier League and Clement is wary of the threat posed by Terriers winger Tom Ince.

“Tom is a good player, that’s for sure. When I worked with him at Derby he scored his only hat-trick in professional football. We won 4-0 against Bristol City at home,” added the ex-Rams manager.

“I used to like working with Tom and he’s got a bit of a swagger about him. He’s confident and that’s a good thing.”
