May foots bill for shoes gift

THERESA May has paid for a pair of designer shoes given to her as a gift.

Ministers can only accept gifts worth more than £140 if they pay the difference, so the PM got the £495 footwear for £355.

She also paid extra for a £175 fountain pen, clothes by Stella McCartney and a necklace from the President of Ukraine.

But she didn’t fancy a pen, clock and medal given to her by the kings of Jordan and Saudi Arabia, an official register reveals.
