DOCUMENTARY
BBC2, 9pm When pro-life campaigner Rachel tells a group of women, “You killed your children”, there is a ripple of shock and anger across the room.
Rachel, 47, is one of nine people, all with conflicting views about abortion, brought together in debate on the 50th anniversary of the Abortion Act of 1967.
It’s expertly guided by Anne Robinson, who talks candidly about her own abortion and is not afraid to ask tough questions. But it’s a contentious issue, with conversation quickly becoming heated.
With all the women having had an abortion, there is an extraordinary mix of opinions. Rachel, who had two abortions, has named her “children” and prays for them. Meanwhile, Lee, the only man present, tells how his views on the subject changed when his partner had an abortion against his wishes.
“Each view is valid,” says Anne. “That’s the point, that we listen to each other.” DEBATE Discussion panel
