Church’s Nige is no ordinary Joe
We always suspected actor Joe Sims, who played plumber Nige Carter in ITV crime drama Broadchurch, would be a great guy. And now we know it’s true.
Joe has teamed up with his pals to start a club that gives £500 a week to someone in need. The star, speaking on the Two Shot Podcast, explains: “I am inspired by people every day. I started this group with four friends and we got 500 people to set up a standing order of £1 a week. Then the 500 can write and nominate people deserving of the £500. We helped two brothers on a council estate fill up their fridge and got them back on track.
“This week this wonderful woman, whose mum and dad live in Australia, got cancer. So we got £500 to fly her back to be with them.
“It’s only £500 but every week it brings a tear to my eye and makes me so happy to help someone out. We have got to find ways of supporting people and making the world a better place.”
