Anger at Corden over massage gag at LA gala
JAMES Corden has been blasted for joking about Weinstein then saying people who did not like it “should probably leave”.
The Late Late Show’s British star was hosting Aids foundation amfAR’s gala in LA attended by Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks.
When he joked Weinstein had “asked me up to his hotel to give him a massage” there were groans. He fired back: “If you don’t like that joke, you should probably leave now.” He then quipped: “Ask any of the women who watched him take a bath, it’s weird watching Weinstein in hot water.”
Among a fierce reaction on social media, actress Rose McGowan, who has accused Weinstein of sexual assault, tweeted “You motherf***ing piglet” and alleged he was the producer’s “close friend”. Corden, 39,
later apologised, tweeting: “I was not trying to make light of Harvey’s inexcusable behaviour, but to shame him, not his victims.
“I am truly sorry for anyone offended, that was never my intention.”
