BBC2 has given the green light to a third series and a 2018 Christmas special of the comedy Upstart Crow.

The show written by Ben Elton features William Shakespeare (David Mitchell) trying to make it as a playwright in Tudor London.

It was launched in 2016 to mark the 400th anniversary of the Bard’s death.
