A TORY is in hot water after billing the taxpayer for his daily hour-long bath.

I spend up to an hour in the morning thinking about things TIM LOUGHTON TORY MP ON HIS BELOVED BATH

divulged his cherished bathing routine to a conference on mindfulness and meditation.

He said: “I spend up to an hour in the morning just thinking about things. One of the greatest causes of stress in the world was the invention of the shower.”

Mr Loughton is paid nearly £75,000 year as an MP and £22,000 outside earnings. In the 2016-17 financial year he claimed a Thames Water direct debit of £15.43 a month. It doubled to £31.98 on his last recorded claim in April.

Labour MP John Mann said: “The taxpayer will be hoping that it’s cold showers for Mr Loughton from now on.”

Tim Loughton MP says he likes a soak every morning to “think about things” but admits topping up the hot water “isn’t cheap”.

An analysis of his expenses shows he has claimed £662 in water bills and £640 for electric charges at his London flat since 2015.

We asked the East Worthing and Shoreham MP for comment, but he said: “There is never, ever, ever advantage in talking to the Mirror. Goodbye.” Mr Loughton
