Back for another series at the Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, the self-confessed canine addict reveals: “There are a few stories that are real heartbreakers, so get your hankies out.”

He also admits he came “dangerously close” to adopting a few of the pups shown in this series, but managed to resist the urge.

This episode is like 101 Dalmatians (OK, not quite) as a litter of them arrives at Battersea. Dalmatian cross, Fern, was found wandering the streets pregnant and malnourished – now she has 11 hungry pups to feed.

Meanwhile, chunky Shar Pei cross Max is almost double his recommended weight. Paul squeezes into his kennel to see if he can help with his much-needed diet. And there’s a tiny Yorkie, called Wilma, with a serious body odour problem. HANKIES OUT Paul with Wilma
