TAXING US IS NOT FAIR

-

In reply to Tim Binder’s comment that it’s time for the older generation to pay more tax to help out young people (Madeuthink, Oct 18), I’ve paid tax and National Insurance for almost 50 years.

I also went without luxuries to pay into a private pension fund.

I now receive my pension, but the state pension is regarded as my tax-free element, so I’m now paying tax on all my private pension.

Let’s solve the problem by holding big business to account for its tax avoidance.

Again we see what a disaster Mrs Thatcher’s Right To Buy scheme was, and still is (Mirror, Oct 18) – with council houses still being sold and not replaced.

Many of these properties are now in the hands of private landlords, and let at inflated prices.

We need many more houses to be built to solve the housing crisis.

Plans to change constituency boundaries is just another Tory ploy to hold on to power.

Is there nothing they will not stoop to to maintain their grip on the country?

I was disgusted by the pictures of squirrels that had been culled (Mirror, Oct 16). We should be making the most of our wildlife.
