MESUT OZIL has told Arsenal team-mates he will sign for Manchester United.

Ozil, 29, is ready to make the bombshell switch and is confident he will move to Old Trafford.

The Gunners midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season and can leave for nothing. But Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has admitted publicly the club could sell him in January.

That has now opened the door for Ozil to leave

Arsenal to defect to one of their biggest rivals.

It remains to be seen whether United will push through a deal for the Germany World Cup winner.

Ozil, who is out of favour at the Emirates, after losing his starting place, is making no secret of the fact he is preparing to leave. Reds boss Jose Mourinho (right) has publicly admitted he regards Ozil as the best No.10 in the world.

The pair had a strong relationship at Real Madrid and there remains a deep respect.

Moving for one of Arsenal’s prize assets would also see Mourinho get the chance to put one over on bitter managerial rival Wenger.
