MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Fans triumph in festive Prem games battle
FANS are claiming a major victory with NO live Premier League games to be shown on TV on Christmas Eve.
Sky were keen on Arsenal’s clash with Liverpool as their Super Sunday 4pm kick-off. But that fixture has been switched to Friday,
December 22 at 7.45pm. The change of heart from TV bosses follows a strong backlash from fans’ groups.
Jurgen Klopp spoke out after Liverpool fans faced a nightmare trip home for Christmas – and Arsenal voiced concerns about getting stewards and staff.
Sky will screen Everton v Chelsea (12.30pm) on December 23 followed by Leicester v Manchester United (7.45pm) while BT are airing Tottenham’s trip to Burnley (5.30pm).
Liam Thompson, of the Football Supporters’ Federation, said: “We are relieved. A Christmas Eve fixture on TV was never going to be popular with match-going fans.”
