NORTHAMPTON have been reminded how much effort it took to get into Europe – and urged not to let it go to waste.

Saints are at French champions Clermont today just six days after suffering a 57-13 club record home defeat to Saracens (above).

“We’ve had a hard look at ourselves,” said defence coach Mark Hopley.

“Clermont are a quality side but we have bounced back before and have got the personnel to win.

“We have talked about how hard we have worked to be in the Champions Cup – how it took a try with 13 men against Stade Francais with one of the last plays of the last game of the season.”
