STEM CELL SAVIOURS...

-

#I was so pleased to read your article about Joshua Nicholson, eight, beating leukaemia after being given stem cells from his baby brother Luke’s frozen umbilical cord (Oct 19).

Umbilical cords contain precious stem cells but are usually thrown away. Cord stem cells can be grown into nerve cells, repair organs and can help patients who have blood diseases. There’s no discomfort involved. Yet, sadly, only a few UK hospitals have a cord collection service. Many new mums would be happy to donate theirs. What a waste of something so valuable.
