Sheikh frees Brit jailed for touching hip
A MAN jailed for indecency for touching a man’s hip in a Dubai bar is heading back to the UK after his conviction was overturned by the emirate’s ruler.
Jamie Harron, 27, was sentenced to three months on Sunday, but hours later Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum intervened to free him.
Last night Jamie, from Stirling, said: “The past few months have been up and down and full of worry.
“It’s going to take me a while to recover.”
The electrician, was on a stopover in the United Arab Emirates in July when he was accused of touching a man’s hip while in a crowded bar.
He was initially jailed for five days, before being released on bail with his passport confiscated.
