Fatal error of woman with mystery pain
A NURSERY nurse died after accidentally taking too many of the painkillers prescribed for a mystery stomach ache she had suffered from the age of 11.
Tamara McCorkindale, 20, had been diagnosed with “functional pain” after a series of specialists had failed to identify the cause.
After she was found dead at home in Chorley, Lancs, last May, tests found 4.8mgs of painkiller Nortriptyline in her blood, the fatal dose being 3mgs.
Tamara’s GP, Dr Marcus Jacobs, told an inquest in Preston she had always seemed “upbeat” despite the pain. He said: “Her mood was always good.”
Her mum Julie McCorkindale said: “She would be very tired. It’s easy to forget what you have taken.”
Verdict: Accident.
