Baldwin: My lucky escape

SCOTT BALDWIN said he feels lucky to still have both of his hands after being bitten by a lion.

Almost a month on from the incident at a South African safari park, the Wales hooker is still coming to terms with the trauma.

Baldwin, 29, who returned to action with Ospreys on Saturday, said: “I had to have four operations and it was all self-inflicted.

“I was told I’d need plastic surgery and could lose my left hand. It only hit me how lucky I was the other night.

“When you lose your hand, instantly your career is gone.”

CAROLINE WOZNIACKI thrashed Elina Svitolina 6-2 6-0 in her WTA Finals opener in Singapore.

The Dane (above), who had never beaten the Ukrainian world No.4 before, denied she was motivated by revenge. “I’m just happy to have won,” she said afterwards.
