Aluko media silence hurts

-

AROUND racism in this country we have a collective amnesia. We have a ‘we’ll do this story today and forget about it tomorrow’ attitude and our major broadcasters are ignoring this.

We are sitting here today and only a few people will still be talking about the Eni Aluko case, about Greg Clarke and Dan Ashworth. Nobody’s job has been sufficiently questioned.

Aluko (below) was almost bullied and blackmailed into a position of accepting a severance payment from the FA.

And she is a lawyer and still accepted that because she felt there was no possibility of going anywhere and making a proper complaint with a proper procedure. The Aluko case should be the biggest story of not only two days last week but it should be going on and on.

There should be special programmes on it all over the TV, but nothing. A story for today that will maybe pop up again down the line.

I’m disgusted, hurt, upset that in my country where I was embraced as a professional footballer that the football culture will not come up to what we see on the pitch.

That not only makes me feel very isolated but also very angry and sad, so God knows how Lianne Sanderson and Aluko feel today.
