Kidnap tot cut from mum’s womb

A CHILDLESS woman cut open a pregnant mum’s womb and stole her baby in a horrific murder and kidnap.

Joelma Silva, 22, and accomplice Alex Carvalho, 18, had lured the victim to a beauty spot before butchering her.

After the pair were caught by police, they admitted carrying out the shocking crime near Sao Sebastiao do Uatuma in northern Brazil. Silva claimed she offered Carvalho £1,000 to find a baby as she could not get pregnant and was desperate to provide a child for her husband.

She said: “I took the knife, but it wasn’t me who opened her belly. I took the baby out from inside.” The victim was 37 weeks pregnant. Her child was unharmed. Silva and Carvalho were charged with murder.
