Margaret and Stuart Holland have just enjoyed a mini break in Spain to celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary. But the couple from Torquay almost didn’t get their special break because they were quoted such ridiculously high sums for travel insurance.

Margaret, 74, says: “I got a shock when we were quoted £350 from the first firm we contacted, then we found it a bit cheaper at £288. Both were far too expensive for us – almost more than the cost of our holiday – we didn’t know where we could find that much cash from, on top of the cost of our trip away.

“We had a lovely time, despite a little hiccup with the flights. It was such a nice way to celebrate our special anniversary”
