Far from being an elaborate hoax, carerooms.com turns out to be a genuine ‘idea’ where Air BnB-style hosts can earn £50 for NO HOAX Hunt letting a room to a hospital patient.

One FAQ on the website asks: “As a host will I need care experience?”

“A: No, the role of a host is to welcome the patient, cook three microwave meals and drinks for them each day and offer conversation where appropriate. Everything else we arrange.”

We know Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt’s ultimate vision is one where we call ubers instead of ambulances, surgeons are on zero-hours contracts, patients change their own dressings and relatives clean the wards.

At least he’s admitting his plans with ‘Care BnB’.
