If you’re looking for the cleanest, freshest Android experience possible then the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will appeal to you.

The phone comes in two sizes – a 5-inch screen and a 6-inch model. Both have a rear-facing fingerprint scanner and the familiar glass inlay on the back.

The larger XL tapers the glass to decrease screen-to-body ratio and has a better battery. Sadly there’s no headphone jack, but waterproofing has been added.

The highlights here are an impressive camera and the unblemished Android OS, complete with the knowledge of unlimited storage and frequent software/ security updates. The screens are vibrant and work well with the Daydream headset, and Google Assistant is proving to be more and more useful.

It’s unlikely Google’s phones will dissuade satisfied iPhone or Samsung users, but the Pixel 2s are a strong statement of intent from the Californian giant.
